It's a place close by, far away and everything in between. You know the way, the directions are simple; turn off the paved road and onto the grassy lane, stay straight at the apple tree and head over the sturdy bridge (stop and fish for a minute if you want too, we hear this is where the Brook Trout hang out).
It's a place close by, far away and everything in between. You know the way, the directions are simple; turn off the paved road and onto the grassy lane, stay straight at the apple tree and head over the sturdy bridge (stop and fish for a minute if you want too, we hear this is where the Brook Trout hang out). Stay under the canopy of almost 300 acres of ancient, untouched trees for about a mile and wait for it. You'll feel it before you get there - the unmistakable feeling of the world falling away behind you. You might hear it too as you get closer - the sound of not much else other than loons, rustling leaves and a pristine lake lapping the shore. And then, you see it! Camp....perfect for all that it is and all that it isn't. And what it isn't is EVERYTHING you've been looking for. That's how Crane's Cottage on Duckpuddle Pond feels... like a throwback, like a time machine. The cottage is totally self sufficient and off the grid with a full septic system and a dedicated well. Solar panels and whole-house propane generator for electricity, the 3+ bedroom cottage also has a full kitchen, bathroom and heat via a propane heater and a wood stove. This is a cottage for 3 seasons as it sits right now but it wouldn't take much to make it a comfortable place to use in the winter as well. Sitting up on a little knoll overlooking the lake, all the things you would expect at a real Maine cottage are here - a covered porch with rocking chairs, a stone fire pit, a dock and float for swimming and fishing, a natural ramp to put boats of all types in, cleared camping areas for tents and such and a sandy little beach. If privacy is what you are looking for, it really doesn't get better than this. This huge swath of contiguous land is unspoiled and untouched with well over 860 feet of direct frontage on Duckpuddle Pond. It's hard to believe something like this still exists but it does and it is absolute paradise. Please make sure to view the drone video and Matterport Tour!
